Inclusivity + FAQ

Who can receive the Abdominal Womb Care Massage?

Anyone who has internal genitalia. This includes:

  • All people assigned female at birth (AFAB.)

  • Cis-gendered women

  • Trans-masculine people

  • Nonbinary AFAB

  • Post-menopausal people

  • Women who have had a hysterectomy

What if you are in none of those groups?

For males and those assigned male at birth (AMAB,) you can book a Body Constellation massage to address other parts of the body.

How does this massage help trying to conceive (TTC)?

This massage is designed to help people with their fertility. We address the blood flow, tension, and lymphatic fluid that may be restrained or stuck in the pelvic bowl, which in turn may be contributing to lack of conception. We time the session before ovulation to support hormonal function. Lots of education about your body, your hormones and self care techniques are provided within the session.

Is there a specific time to come for an Abdominal Womb Care Massage?

The best time to come for a session is whenever you can/want to come!

The second best time to come is before ovulation, after the bleed.

*This massage is contraindicated in early pregnancy and therefore must be preformed before ovulation for TTC individuals.

How long is an Abdominal Womb Care Massage?

90-120 mins. This allows for the whole body to be treated as a holistic system.

How frequently should one come for an abdominal massage?

It is nice to come once a month before ovulation. You may come for several months in a row, every other month, or every few months for any given span of time.

For those TTC, consistency is best! Expect to commit to 3-6 months of sessions before getting pregnant.

Where did the practice of tending to the womb originate?

It is important to distinctly say, my education in womb care is recieved by the Tu’ul Ix Indigenous Arts Institute, once known as The Arvigo Institute. It is a blend of the teachings of Dr. Rosita Arvigo, Naprapath, USA, and her mentors Don Elijio Panti, Mayan medicine man, Belize, and Hortense Robinson, Traditional Midwife, Belize. The bulk of material for this practice comes passed down from Mr. Panti, and thousands of years of traditional wisdom from his indigenous blood lineage.

The way of tending to the womb is age old, and would have been seen in many different corners of the world. Sadly, healers and midwives who cared for the womb in similar ways have been wiped out, forgotten, and witch hunted away. Their teachings lost to patriarchal, white supremacist, post-colonial societies.

I (Nora Fantry LMT) give thanks to my teachers and the indigenous practices of the Mayan Lineage which support me as the grounds and roots for my practice in providing womb care.

However, I opt out of calling what I do a ‘Mayan Abdominal Massage’, as I am not Mayan, nor was I taught in the traditional manner of apprenticeship that would be apart of authentic Mayan training of Sobadoria. For me to pose as such would be cultural disrespect, erasure and white supremacy.

If you are searching for a practitioner with authentic lineage to these traditions, I can send you some references directly.
